Seoul Station Hotels for Rail Trips

October 3, 2026|by TripKorea Team

Seoul Station (서울역) brings together KTX intercity trains, the airport railroad and Subway Lines 1 and 4. Seoul Station hotels suit a trip with an airport arrival, an onward rail journey or a return to Seoul between destinations. This guide compares five accommodation options around the station district, separating their street locations and facilities from the practical steps of traveling with luggage.

Choose the Station Side That Fits Your Rail Trip

The station name is a starting point, not a complete location description. Hangang-daero, Sejong-daero and the Mallijae-ro streets place accommodation on different approaches to the rail complex. Compare the actual entrance and arrival route before booking, especially if you plan to carry bags between the airport train, your room and an intercity departure.

Four Points by Sheraton Josun occupies 366 Hangang-daero in Yongsan-gu. Farther along the same road, Hotel the Designers is at 305 Hangang-daero, on the Sookmyung Women’s University station side. These are two different arrival decisions: a property with a stated underground station connection and a hotel whose local subway reference is separate from the main rail terminal.

R Guesthouse is at 16-7 Mallijae-ro 36-gil, while Raum 169 is at 21 Sejong-daero 4-gil and Hotel Less at 24-1 Sejong-daero. Use these street addresses to compare the final approach rather than assuming every property called Seoul Station has an entrance beside the same concourse. The shortlist is not a nearest-first ranking and does not promise a shared walking time.

Seoullo 7017 (서울로7017), the elevated pedestrian greenway around the station, helps explain the area’s east–west geography. Its name combines the overpass’s construction in 1970 with its rebirth in 2017. The planted walkway links the station district with places including Malli-dong Plaza and Culture Station Seoul 284; it is a place to explore after settling in, not a guaranteed step-free hotel transfer.

AREX, KTX and the Final Hotel Approach

From Incheon International Airport, AREX provides Express and All-Stop services to Seoul Station. The Express service runs non-stop between the airport and Seoul Station, while the All-Stop train serves intermediate stations. From Gimpo Airport, use the All-Stop service; the airport Express does not stop there. Check the service, airport terminal and current departure information before buying a ticket.

At Seoul Station, follow signs for the service you actually need. Airport rail, the subway and KTX are different parts of the journey, so reaching the station does not mean you have reached your departure platform. Keep your intercity booking available and check the station name on it: a Seoul stay should be planned around the departure station printed on the ticket, not around the assumption that every intercity train leaves from Seoul Station.

Subway Lines 1 and 4 provide local connections from Seoul Station. Line 4 is also the reference for Sookmyung Women’s University Station and Hoehyeon Station, the latter serving Namdaemun Market. These local stations help distinguish a station-focused overnight stay from one that includes sightseeing before or after the rail journey.

Four Points describes an underground connection from Seoul Station Exit 12. Confirm the route’s access hours and the hotel entrance before an early departure or late arrival rather than treating the connection as a round-the-clock promise. For the other properties, check the street-level approach individually; no underground connection is claimed here.

Luggage planning begins with the room booking. Ask whether bags can be held before check-in or after check-out, whether a fee applies, and when collection is possible. A luggage-storage amenity is not a guarantee of overnight storage, unlimited capacity or access at the hour your train arrives. Check a current route planner for lifts and the final approach if stairs would be a problem.

Nearby Walks, Shopping and Culture Between Trains

Namdaemun Market (남대문시장) provides a shopping and food stop on the Hoehyeon side of the station district. Clothing, household goods and food are among its merchandise, with different shops and stalls operating independently. Plan the market around what you want to buy or eat, rather than assuming a single opening schedule applies to every business.

Hoehyeon Station on Line 4 is the market’s subway reference, and its listed address is 21 Namdaemunsijang 4-gil in Jung-gu. Choose the route from your hotel’s own entrance, particularly if you are staying on the Mallijae-ro side. A market visit and a rail transfer are separate tasks; leaving bags at your accommodation, when arranged in advance, may make the sightseeing part simpler.

For a break outdoors, Seoullo 7017 offers an elevated planted walking route through the station area. The walkway’s surroundings include Culture Station Seoul 284 and Malli-dong Plaza. Treat this as a flexible neighborhood walk rather than a timed connection: the route you choose, the weather and the return to your hotel still need to fit your rail departure.

Seosomun Historical Park (서소문역사공원), at 5 Chilpae-ro, is another place to consider within the wider district. For a shopping alternative to market stalls, Shinsegae Department Store’s Main Store is at 63 Sogong-ro. Neither stop is presented as being beside every hotel below; compare the location with your available time and leave enough margin to retrieve bags and reach the correct station area.

Five Seoul Station Hotels to Compare

The properties below offer different street locations and accommodation types, not five interchangeable station entrances. Guest scores are historical Agoda figures; their snapshot date appears in Sources. Check current room information and recent feedback before choosing a stay around an early KTX departure or airport arrival.

1. Four Points by Sheraton Josun, Seoul Station

Guest rating: 8.6/10 from 8,093 verified reviews.

Four Points by Sheraton Josun gives the Hangang-daero option a specifically documented station connection: the hotel describes an underground passage from Exit 12. Free Wi-Fi is included among its amenities, and its 366 Hangang-daero address distinguishes it from the Designers property farther along the road. Confirm access hours for the passage when planning a late arrival or early rail departure.

2. Hotel the Designers Seoul Station

Guest rating: 8.4/10 from 9,536 verified reviews.

Hotel the Designers Seoul Station sits at 305 Hangang-daero, with Sookmyung Women’s University Station as its local subway reference rather than the main KTX concourse. Free Wi-Fi is listed, and its substantial review sample offers a different comparison from the smaller guesthouse options. Check this address deliberately if using the local subway is part of the stay; the Seoul Station name alone should not determine the luggage route.

3. R Guesthouse Seoul Station

Guest rating: 8.5/10 from 1,276 verified reviews.

R Guesthouse Seoul Station offers a guesthouse alternative at 16-7 Mallijae-ro 36-gil. Free Wi-Fi and family-room options are listed, making the room configuration worth checking for travelers sharing one booking. Match its actual entrance and permitted occupancy to your arrival plan instead of assuming guesthouse access works like a large hotel reception.

4. Seoul Station Raum 169

Guest rating: 8.7/10 from 1,367 verified reviews.

Seoul Station Raum 169 places this option at 21 Sejong-daero 4-gil, distinct from the Hangang-daero hotels and the Mallijae-ro guesthouse. Free Wi-Fi and luggage storage are listed, relevant details for a stay divided between sightseeing and train travel. Ask the property about bag collection hours before relying on storage between check-out and a later departure.

5. Hotel Less Seoul station

Guest rating: 8.2/10 from 2,821 verified reviews.

Hotel Less Seoul station is at 24-1 Sejong-daero, offering another address on that side of the station district. Family-room options and luggage storage are included among its amenities, but they do not establish the bed arrangement or storage terms for every booking. Compare the room’s occupancy and arrival instructions before using it as a shared overnight stop ahead of a rail journey.

Choose for the Journey, Not Just the Hotel Name

For an airport-to-KTX itinerary, begin with the exact arrival and departure stations and then compare the hotel approach. Four Points has a documented underground connection, while the other addresses require their own route check. For Designers, include the Sookmyung Women’s University station reference in the comparison rather than assuming its entrance is at the main railway terminal.

For a shared room, R Guesthouse and Hotel Less list family-room options. That is a reason to inspect room configurations, not proof that a particular bed setup or maximum occupancy suits your group. For a later departure after check-out, Raum 169 and Hotel Less list luggage storage, but you still need to arrange the hours and terms with the property.

For an early train, confirm check-out arrangements before the day of travel. For an evening airport arrival, check the last rail service and the accommodation’s arrival procedure. Current rates, cancellation terms and room availability need to be checked for your actual dates; this guide does not assign price bands or describe any stay as the cheapest.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does AREX go directly to Seoul Station?

Yes. AREX links Incheon Airport with Seoul Station using Express and All-Stop services. The Express runs non-stop between the airport and Seoul Station; the All-Stop service also calls at intermediate stations, including Gimpo Airport. Check the current schedule and the service you intend to use.

Are all five hotels connected to the station underground?

No. Four Points describes an underground passage from Seoul Station Exit 12. No such connection is claimed for the other four options. Confirm access hours and the final entrance with the hotel.

Can I leave luggage after checking out?

Raum 169 and Hotel Less list luggage storage among their amenities. Storage hours, fees and any overnight allowance are not established here. Ask the accommodation to confirm the arrangement for your travel date before building a sightseeing plan around it.

Is a Seoul Station hotel the right choice for every KTX trip?

Check the departure station on your booking first. This guide is intended for journeys using Seoul Station, not a promise that all intercity trains depart there. Match the hotel location to your actual rail itinerary and leave time for the final station approach.
