Chungmuro Hotels: Central Seoul Stays

October 18, 2026|by TripKorea Team

Chungmuro hotels put Seoul’s Line 3 and Line 4 interchange beside the traditional houses of Namsangol, with Euljiro’s workshop streets and streamside paths forming a different city-center base nearby. This guide covers both sides of the neighborhood: the Chungmuro Station cluster, the streets between the stations, and an Euljiro 3-ga stay, with six hotels to compare by actual address rather than a broad Myeongdong label.

Where to Stay: Chungmuro and Euljiro by Station

Chungmuro (충무로) and Euljiro (을지로) sit in central Seoul’s Jung-gu, but they are not interchangeable hotel locations. Chungmuro Station connects Lines 3 and 4; Euljiro 3-ga connects Lines 2 and 3; and Euljiro 4-ga connects Lines 2 and 5. The useful distinction is the station you will use each day, not whether a booking page puts the property under Myeongdong.

For a Chungmuro-first stay, start with the Chungmu-ro addresses beside the station: Homes Stay Myeongdong at number 3 and G3 Hotel Chungmuro at number 7. These put Line 4 at the center of the trip, including the connection with Seoul Station, while retaining Line 3 for journeys through central Seoul. Namsangol Hanok Village is the nearby cultural stop on this side; it is a visitor attraction, not a hanok accommodation complex.

Wecostay Chungmuro and Sollago Myeongdong Hotel & Residence both give 9 Chungmu-ro 2-gil as their address. Treat them as separate accommodation operators at the same address, not as two different neighborhood locations. Hotel PJ Myeongdong, at 71 Mareunnae-ro, provides another choice between the Chungmuro and Euljiro 4-ga approaches; its own directions identify both stations.

Travelodge Myeongdong Euljiro, at 61 Supyo-ro, supplies the distinct Euljiro 3-ga option in this shortlist. That position is worth comparing when Line 2 and the Euljiro streets are more important than immediate access to Chungmuro’s Line 4. Euljiro’s printing, hardware, and tile businesses are part of a working neighborhood, alongside cafés and pubs, rather than a purpose-built hotel or pedestrian-shopping precinct.

Cheonggyecheon adds a streamside route north of the Euljiro streets. The photograph shows an earlier lantern display, not a promise that decorations will be present during a future stay. For a broader comparison with the retail-centered district to the west, see the separate Myeongdong hotel guide.

Getting Here: Airport Rail, KTX and Local Connections

For a Chungmuro hotel, a documented airport-rail route is AREX to Seoul Station, followed by a transfer to subway Line 4 and arrival at Chungmuro. G3’s official directions describe this connection for airport arrivals. It is a transfer journey, not a direct airport train to the hotel; allow for moving between rail services with luggage rather than planning only around time on board.

The same final subway connection is useful after a KTX arrival at Seoul Station: follow signs to Line 4 and travel to Chungmuro, then use the selected property’s arrival instructions. Homes and G3 are station-side choices, whereas the Chungmu-ro 2-gil properties and Hotel PJ have different entrances and street approaches. Save the hotel’s full name and address before setting off, particularly where two operators share an address.

For Travelodge, the hotel’s airport directions give another rail option: take AREX to Hongik University Station, transfer to Line 2, and get off at Euljiro 3-ga. This matches an Euljiro-based stay without first routing through Chungmuro. Check the operator’s current journey planner before departure; fares, last departures, and the time needed to transfer are not fixed hotel features.

Within the neighborhood, Line 3 links the Chungmuro and Euljiro 3-ga station choices, while Euljiro 4-ga gives access to Line 5 as well as Line 2. Hotel PJ’s directions identify Chungmuro Exit 8 and Euljiro 4-ga Exit 10 as approaches. G3 identifies Chungmuro Exit 6. These are property directions, not a guarantee that a particular exit provides a step-free route; travelers with mobility needs should check station facilities separately.

Airport limousine buses are a further option, but choose the stop only after choosing the hotel. G3 publishes Chungmuro bus directions, and Travelodge publishes an Euljiro-side airport-bus approach. Confirm the current stop, service and airport terminal with the transport operator instead of treating every “Myeongdong” hotel as sharing one stop. Browse Seoul transport options.

Nearby Context: Hanok, Workshop Streets and Cheonggyecheon

Namsangol Hanok Village (남산골한옥마을), at 28 Toegye-ro 34-gil, is the defining cultural visit on the Chungmuro side. It contains five restored traditional-house compounds, as well as a garden and pavilion. The houses were relocated from different Seoul neighborhoods to illustrate earlier domestic life; visiting the village does not require choosing a traditional-style hotel.

Use Namsangol as a separate stop before or after a city day rather than assuming that every Namsan attraction is beside it. Namsangol Hanok Village, Namsan Park and N Seoul Tower are different destinations. A hotel described as having a Namsan location or view should not be read as a promise of immediate tower access, and no walking time to the tower is assumed here.

Euljiro offers a different setting. Printing shops around Inhyeon-dong and the wider concentration of hardware and tile businesses explain the mix of commercial lanes and newer cafés. These are useful surroundings for travelers interested in an operating city district, but they are not a guarantee of quiet streets, late-opening restaurants, or uninterrupted pedestrian routes outside a particular hotel.

Outdoor tables and Korean pub signs in Euljiro Nogari Alley

Euljiro Nogari Alley (을지로 노가리골목) is associated with pubs serving beer and dried young pollack, with outdoor tables visible in the tourism photograph above. The attraction’s visitor directions use Euljiro 3-ga Exit 3. Treat this as neighborhood context, not a recommendation of a specific business or a guarantee that tables will be available; check individual venues when planning an evening.

Cheonggyecheon provides another reason to consider the Euljiro side: a waterside path distinct from the traffic-level commercial streets. Choose a suitable access point for the part of the stream you intend to visit rather than assuming all stream photographs show the stretch nearest your hotel. A short neighborhood outing can combine the workshop streets with the stream without turning the accommodation choice into a full sightseeing itinerary.

For shopping, distinguish Euljiro’s trade-oriented businesses from Myeongdong’s visitor retail streets. A stay near Euljiro 3-ga or Chungmuro can support visits to both, but it is not the same as sleeping inside the shopping lanes. Tax-refund eligibility and shop opening hours should be confirmed at the actual store; no historical store list is presented as a current guarantee here.

Chungmuro Hotels and Euljiro Stays to Compare

The six properties below cover the station-side cluster, the shared Chungmu-ro 2-gil address, Hotel PJ’s between-stations position, and Euljiro 3-ga. Agoda scores and review totals refer to the dated snapshot identified in Sources, not today’s ratings or availability. Family-room and breakfast options depend on the room and rate selected; none is assumed to be included in every booking.

Wecostay Chungmuro

At 9 Chungmu-ro 2-gil, Wecostay Chungmuro is a separate choice from the similarly named Wecostay Myeongdong branch, and it shares its street address with Sollago rather than occupying a different station zone. Free Wi-Fi and family-room options make it worth comparing for companions who want to stay together in the Chungmuro–Euljiro corridor.

Its Agoda score was 9.0/10 from 1,722 verified reviews in the historical snapshot; compare the exact room layout and arrival instructions before deciding between operators at this address. View Wecostay Chungmuro room options.

G3 Hotel Chungmuro

G3 Hotel Chungmuro tower with illuminated windows at dusk

G3 Hotel Chungmuro anchors the station-first choice at 7 Chungmu-ro, with the hotel identifying Chungmuro Exit 6 as its arrival reference. Its rooftop garden and free Wi-Fi offer a different balance from the neighboring residence-style names, particularly for travelers putting the Line 3/4 interchange at the center of their plans.

An Agoda score of 8.9/10 from 10,025 verified reviews belongs to the historical snapshot, so use the current room page to check the rate and room category rather than reading that total as a live count. Check G3 Chungmuro room categories.

Homes Stay Myeongdong

Homes Stay Myeongdong is at 3 Chungmu-ro beside Chungmuro Station, despite the Myeongdong name, and presents a co-living-style alternative to G3 on the same station approach. Family-room options and luggage storage are useful comparison points for travelers organizing a shared stay around Line 4 rather than the retail lanes farther west.

The historical Agoda score was 8.7/10 from 4,689 verified reviews; confirm the chosen occupancy and luggage arrangements directly rather than assuming all rooms and services work in the same way. Explore Homes Stay Myeongdong.

Sollago Myeongdong Hotel & Residence

Sollago Myeongdong Hotel & Residence occupies the same 9 Chungmu-ro 2-gil address as Wecostay Chungmuro, making this an operator-and-room comparison rather than a separate location choice. Free Wi-Fi and family-room options suit travelers considering this cluster, while the hotel’s self-check-in instructions deserve attention before arrival.

Its historical Agoda score was 8.6/10 from 6,608 verified reviews; compare the exact booking name and housekeeping terms, especially when choosing a plan with different servicing conditions. Compare Sollago rooms and booking terms.

Hotel PJ Myeongdong

Hotel PJ Myeongdong sits at 71 Mareunnae-ro, with official directions from both Chungmuro and Euljiro 4-ga, so it is the between-stations option rather than a property directly outside the Chungmuro interchange. The accommodation description emphasizes room space, while family-room options and luggage storage give groups concrete features to compare with the station-side stays.

Its Agoda score was 8.5/10 from 24,252 verified reviews in the historical snapshot; check the specific room layout rather than assuming every category has the same space or balcony. See Hotel PJ Myeongdong accommodation.

Travelodge Myeongdong Euljiro

At 61 Supyo-ro, Travelodge Myeongdong Euljiro provides the shortlist’s Euljiro 3-ga alternative, with Lines 2 and 3 as its station reference instead of Chungmuro’s Line 4. Its city-hotel description and free Wi-Fi suit travelers prioritizing the Euljiro side, while luggage storage is a practical feature to confirm for a day that begins before room access.

The historical Agoda score was 8.2/10 from 7,936 verified reviews; compare it for this different station position rather than assuming that the Myeongdong name places it alongside the Chungmu-ro hotels. Review Travelodge Euljiro options.

Making the Final Location Choice

Begin with daily rail use. G3 and Homes address a Chungmuro Station-first plan; Travelodge addresses an Euljiro 3-ga-first plan; Hotel PJ gives two documented station approaches. Wecostay Chungmuro and Sollago should be compared as accommodation choices at the same Chungmu-ro 2-gil address, with the selected room and operator doing more to distinguish them than the location label.

Then compare how the booking will work. Match the number of beds and maximum occupancy to the party, check whether breakfast is included or merely offered, and read the cancellation and servicing terms attached to that rate. A family-room label does not specify every bed arrangement, and an attractive exterior photograph does not establish the outlook from the room being sold.

Finally, save the property’s exact name and arrival details. “Myeongdong,” “Chungmuro” and “Euljiro” overlap in accommodation marketing, but the station exits and building entrances do not. Choose the address first, then compare current rates for the room that actually fits the trip.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Chungmuro and Euljiro the same place to stay?

No. They are neighboring central-Seoul locations with different station choices. Chungmuro connects Lines 3 and 4, Euljiro 3-ga connects Lines 2 and 3, and Euljiro 4-ga connects Lines 2 and 5. Check the hotel’s address rather than relying on a broad Myeongdong label.

Which hotels are beside Chungmuro Station?

G3 Hotel Chungmuro is at 7 Chungmu-ro and identifies Exit 6 in its directions. Homes Stay Myeongdong is at 3 Chungmu-ro and also uses Chungmuro Station as its rail reference. Compare their room types and arrival processes instead of assuming the station position makes the stays identical.

Can airport rail reach Chungmuro without a transfer?

Not directly. A documented route is AREX to Seoul Station, then subway Line 4 to Chungmuro. For the Euljiro 3-ga side, Travelodge describes AREX to Hongik University followed by Line 2. Check current departures and transfer arrangements before traveling.

Are Wecostay Chungmuro and Sollago in different areas?

No. Both operators publish 9 Chungmu-ro 2-gil as their address. The booking name, room layout and operating arrangements matter more than a neighborhood comparison between these two. Follow the instructions for the operator actually booked.

Do these hotels include breakfast or offer family rooms?

Not automatically. Several properties offer family-room categories, but the occupancy and bed arrangement depend on the room. Breakfast availability is not the same as breakfast being included in a rate. Read the selected booking’s inclusions before paying.

Plan Your Central Seoul Stay

Compare the individual properties above for the exact Chungmuro or Euljiro position, or use the wider Myeongdong-area hotel collection to broaden the search. The collection covers a wider area than this guide, so check addresses before choosing. Browse Seoul hotels and explore activities in Seoul for the rest of the trip.

Chungmuro hotels work as a central Seoul base when the station approach, accommodation type and daily route fit together; add Euljiro to the comparison when Lines 2 and 3 or the workshop-and-stream side of the neighborhood better match the stay.
