Complete airline check-in and baggage handling before treating duty-free shopping as the next step. If the trip also includes tax-refund purchases from city stores, keep those receipts and documents separate because airport departure duty-free shopping is a different transaction.
- Terminal: match every store or advance order to Terminal 1, Terminal 2, or the Concourse.
- Gate area: locate the shop in relation to the boarding gate rather than by operator name alone.

Many standard counters currently list 06:30 to 21:30. Selected stores and pickup counters are marked for 24-hour operation, while a small number use other schedules. The live airport directory can be filtered by terminal, operator, 24-hour operation, departure duty-free area, and arrival area.
Warning: A 24-hour label belongs to a specific counter, not automatically to every branch operated by the same duty-free company. Recheck the exact gate-area listing on the travel date.
2. Duty-Free Shopping Areas in Each Terminal
Terminal 1
Terminal 1 places duty-free stores along the third-floor departure area. The current directory includes The Shilla Duty Free, Shinsegae Duty Free, Hyundai Duty Free, City Duty Free, Gyeongbokgung Duty Free, FANFAN Duty Free, and Lotte Duty Free, as well as a separate collection counter.
Near Gates 10 to 16, listed categories include cosmetics, perfume, fashion, accessories, food, souvenirs, children's products, and mixed merchandise. The central area near Gates 25 to 31 contains many fashion and luxury-brand counters together with watches, sunglasses, electronics, packaged food, souvenirs, and general duty-free goods.
Additional cosmetics, liquor, tobacco, food, and mixed-category listings appear toward Gates 35 to 43. The Terminal 1 advance-order pickup counter is listed on the fourth floor near Gate 43.
Terminal 2
Terminal 2 also uses the third-floor departure level for most duty-free shopping. The central concentration is around Gates 248 to 255, where the directory lists fashion, cosmetics and perfume, sunglasses, watches, electronics, packaged food, red ginseng, liquor, tobacco, souvenirs, and children's goods.
Other counters appear near Gates 218, 221, 224, 243, 247, 274, 277, and 281. Search by category and gate area because a required product may be listed away from the central group.
Terminal 2 has western and eastern advance-order collection areas. The western counter is near Gates 227 to 230, while the eastern counter is near Gates 267 to 273. Both are in the duty-free area near a Korean Traditional Culture Center.
Concourse
Passengers whose boarding route leads to the Concourse should use the Concourse store list rather than the main Terminal 1 map. A 24-hour Shinsegae counter near Gate 117 currently covers sunglasses, fashion, electronics, character goods, and accessories.
The directory also lists a Hyundai liquor, tobacco, and food counter near Gate 115 and a Lotte cosmetics and perfume counter near Gate 117. Both currently show 06:30 to 21:30. The Concourse collection counter is on the fourth floor near Gate 119 and is marked for 24-hour operation.
3. Choose a Product Category Before Walking to a Shop
The terminal directory is more useful when searched by product category than by duty-free operator alone. One operator may run several counters, and each counter can carry a different group of products.
Categories currently represented across the airport include cosmetics and perfume, fashion and accessories, sunglasses and watches, electronics, liquor and tobacco, packaged food, red ginseng, souvenirs, toys, and children's products. Brand selection and stock are not identical between terminals or counters.
- Cosmetics and perfume: check the terminal, brand, and gate number before comparing prices.
- Fashion and accessories: confirm that the named boutique is in the departure terminal used by the flight.
- Food, red ginseng, and souvenirs: use the category listing to avoid walking to a fashion-only cluster.
- Liquor and tobacco: check the destination and transit-country customs rules before payment.
- Electronics: check product specifications, included accessories, and warranty information at the counter.
Compare the final payment amount rather than only the displayed product price. Currency, membership conditions, time-limited discounts, quantity limits, and collection terms can change the checkout total.
Liquids bought after security may be packaged by the seller, but transfer-airport and destination rules still apply. Food, animal or plant products, tobacco, and alcohol may also be restricted or taxable after arrival.
4. Buy at the Counter or Order Ahead
For walk-in shopping, complete departure screening and use the stores in the correct gate area. Present the travel documents requested by the seller, retain the receipt, and leave enough time to walk from the counter to the boarding gate.

5. Arrival Duty-Free Shops and Korean Customs
Arrival duty-free stores serve passengers entering Korea and are located before customs clearance. Terminal 1 currently lists two 24-hour arrival stores near baggage-claim carousels 6 and 7 and carousels 16 and 17. Terminal 2 lists a 24-hour arrival store near baggage-claim carousel 11.
Goods worth up to US$800 may be purchased at arrival duty-free stores, with liquor and perfume handled under separate duty-free ranges. Arrival-store purchases are combined with goods bought overseas and at other duty-free stores when Korean customs assesses a passenger's belongings.
This Korean allowance applies when entering Korea. It is not the customs allowance for taking goods into another country. A passenger departing Korea must follow the rules of the destination and any transit country.
Arrival shops do not necessarily carry the same brands or categories as the departure halls. Use the arrival-store filter in the airport directory rather than assuming that a departure counter has an arrival counterpart.
